Privacy
This page explains, in plain language, exactly what EconLaunch does with your information. EconLaunch is a free job-search hub for students and new graduates. You can browse the whole site without an account — signing in is optional and only adds cross-device sync.
Last updated: July 30, 2026.
Who's responsible: EconLaunch is an independent project run by an individual operator. For any privacy question, correction, or deletion request, contact econlaunch@gmail.com.
What we collect, and when
- Just browsing (no account): your saved jobs, applications, tasks, hidden jobs, contacts, saved searches, and documents are stored only in this browser's local storage and IndexedDB. Nothing about them is sent to any server.
- If you create an account: your sign-in email, plus your applications, tasks, hidden jobs, contacts, and career profile, are stored in this project's Supabase database so they follow your account across devices. Basic usage activity is stored too: which tabs you've used, how many sessions, and when you were last active. Saved searches and documents (resume/cover-letter files) are never synced — they stay in this browser only, signed in or not.
- If you use the Mentoring contact form: your name, email, and message are emailed to the operator (via Resend) so they can reply. Nothing from the form is stored in a database.
- If you book a mentoring call: the booking is handled by Cal.com. The name, email, and any details you enter go to Cal.com and to the operator's connected calendar to schedule and confirm the meeting.
- If you book a paid session: payment is processed by Stripe. You enter your card details directly with Stripe — EconLaunch never sees or stores your full card number. What EconLaunch receives is payment metadata only: the amount, the date, a receipt reference, and the card's last four digits, so it can confirm the booking and keep a record of the sale.
Who stores or processes your data
EconLaunch relies on a few outside services, each receiving only what its job needs:
- Supabase — handles sign-in and stores the synced account data above.
- Cloudflare — hosts and serves the website, and (as with any web host) handles the network requests your browser makes to load it.
- Resend — delivers contact-form messages to the operator's email. Used only when you submit that form.
- Cal.com — runs the mentoring booking calendar. Used only if you book a call.
- Stripe — processes payments for paid mentoring sessions. Used only if you book a paid session. Stripe collects your card details directly and securely; EconLaunch never receives or stores your full card number.
These services may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States.
Separately, this project's own scrapers use Google's Gemini API offline to tag job postings by relevance and category. That only ever sends public job-posting text (titles, summaries) — never anything about you.
What the site administrator can see
The administrator can see your career profile and your usage activity (tabs used, session count, last active). They cannot see your synced applications, tasks, hidden jobs, or contacts — those are readable only by your own account — and they cannot see anything that was never synced (documents, saved searches, or any data from a signed-out visitor).
Cookies and local storage
No cookies, ads, or third-party analytics/tracking scripts run in your browser. The site uses your browser's own local storage and IndexedDB to remember your saved data and settings on this device. That data stays on your device unless you sign in to sync it.
How long we keep it
Account data (your email, synced content, and usage activity) is kept for as long as your account exists, or until you delete it — whichever comes first. There's no fixed automatic deletion schedule; deletion happens when you ask for it (see below). Local-only data stays in your browser until you clear it. Contact-form and booking messages remain in the operator's inbox / Cal.com account under those services' own retention. Records of paid transactions are kept for about six years to meet Canadian tax and business record-keeping rules, even if you delete your account — these are financial records held by Stripe and the operator, separate from your profile data.
Your choices
- See or correct your data: your applications, tasks, profile, and the rest are all visible and editable directly in the app while signed in. For anything else, email econlaunch@gmail.com.
- Delete your data: use Account → Delete my data to permanently remove your saved applications, tasks, hidden jobs, contacts, saved searches, and career profile — on this device and, if signed in, in your account. This does not delete your sign-in account itself or your resume/cover-letter documents.
- Delete your whole account: email econlaunch@gmail.com to request full account deletion.
- Remove local/unsynced data: clearing your browser's site data permanently deletes anything not synced (documents, saved searches, and all signed-out data). Consider exporting a CSV backup from the All Applications view first.
- Signing out clears this device's local copy of your synced data (so the next account to sign in on a shared computer never sees yours). Your account's copy in Supabase is untouched and returns when you sign back in.
Security
Sign-in is handled by Supabase (passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text), the site is served only over HTTPS, and access to synced data is enforced per-account at the database level, so one account cannot read another's data.
If something goes wrong
If a data breach affecting your information is ever discovered, the operator will investigate promptly and notify affected users where appropriate. You can raise a concern at any time at econlaunch@gmail.com.
Children
EconLaunch is intended for post-secondary students and other adults. It isn't directed at young children, and account creation isn't intended for them.
Job matching
The Jobs tab can show how well a posting fits the career profile you enter. This matching runs entirely in your own browser, using only the information you typed in yourself, and it simply ranks jobs for your convenience. It makes no automated decision about you, doesn't affect anything else, and you can ignore it or leave your profile blank.
Job listings and external links
- Job listing data is fetched from static files generated by this project's own scrapers, not from a live backend.
- External links (to job postings, employer career pages, and so on) open third-party sites this project doesn't control, each with its own privacy practices.
